RE Elect Tom Medeiros- Sewer Commissioner
My name is Tom Medeiros and I am running for re-election for Sewer Commissioner. I have served as sewer commissioner for two years and I am proud to say un-like other fees that have gone up in town, in those two years I along with my fellow commissioners have voted NOT to raise sewer rates.
I have learned a lot over the last two years about sewer systems/departments and how they run. When I took the position I promised myself I would never render an opinion or decision based on a whim or because that is how my colleagues are voting, so I would ask questions and research the sewer by-laws and when I felt comfortable enough that I knew I could make a decision based on what I gathered for facts then I was able to render a decision in the best interest of the Town and the sewer users.
In the last two years I feel that I have been instrumental in making our sewer pump stations a safer environment for our employees. We have upgraded our alarm systems to include panic buttons on each level of the pump stations this allows our operators to summon help if he/she is injured and was unable to reach a phone, speak or climb the stairs to get out, I also secured 2 SCOTT air packs, I have also upgraded and had repaired our portable air cascade system and placed new first aid kits in each station.
I have devoted 20 years to Town of Dighton. I am honest, trustworthy and dedicated to the Town of Dighton and any decision I make as a commissioner has the forethought of how it will affect everyone in town not just a certain group, individual or developer.
The staff in the sewer office can attest that I am hard working and dedicated to this position. Two years ago the Town approached asked me if I would be willing to fill an unexpected vacancy within the Board of Sewer Commissioners I feel that I have faithfully fulfilled my duties and would like to continue my service representing "YOU" for another successful term as sewer commissioner.
As elected officials we have to remain true to the voters and remember we work for you. I have no personal agenda other than doing what is right for the voter so if I am re-elected I promise I will always do what's right for you.
Thank You Thomas Medeiros please vote April 7, 2012
